Tasks to complete
Choose a business name and domain name.
If you plan on expanding your income streams and creating an empire rather than
a single business, keep your LLC name broad and vague so many different
businesses can fall under the umbrella. For example "your last name Industries
LLC". Once you have your main LLC business name you can create multiple DBA's
(doing business as). The DBA should be more specific to each business within the
LLC group. You can use a business name generator tool for your DBA. Please take
a look at the following article in regards to choosing a business name.

Form a limited liability company
There are a few ways to make a business official so you can start reaping all those juicy tax benefits but an LLC, a limited liability corporation, is the simplest and the most flexible.
One of the most significant benefits of an LLC is that of pass-through taxes. LLC owners don’t have to file a corporate tax return. An owner simply reports their share of profit and loss on their individual tax return.
This prevents double taxation, your business paying taxes and you paying taxes. In an LLC, the business doesn’t pay any taxes, only the owner.
Once you have set up an LLC, you have created a separate legal entity. This protects you and your personal assets. The LLC is solely liable for its debts and obligations, the owner of the LLC is not. If the LLC were to be sued by a creditor, that creditor could only go after the LLC’s assets and not the owner’s.
Having an LLC makes your expenses less expensive. A cell phone is an excellent example of this. A cell phone plan that costs $100 a month is $100 a month if you run a business. If you are a W-2 employee working for the man, you are paying for that cell phone with post-tax money, so you actually need to earn $125 to cover that bill.
Essentially, for every $1,000 in business-related expenses you’re paying $250 more as a W-2 employee than you would be if you started a business and set it up as an LLC. These expenses include everything it takes to run your business; your cell phone, internet, electricity, and if you’re LMM, beer!
If your spouse is involved in the business, guess what? Date night dinners just got 50% cheaper so long as you spend part of the meal discussing business.

Create a DBA
Selecting a business name is of vital importance for an LLC. Many factors must be considered, particularly with regard to how the name will affect the business's success in the marketplace. Multiple DBA names can allow a company that will be operating in multiple markets to tailor separate names for each product or service line. Further, it may be that one name proves to not be beneficial to the business or it may desire to rebrand its image and register a new DBA.
Before
filing a DBA in New Hampshire,
double check to see if the name
you decided to use as an assumed
name is available. You're
prohibited from using names that
closely resemble a registered
business’ name, a political
party of New Hampshire or a
government authority.
Use the NH Business Entity Search page as well as the TESS System through the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office to see if there are any conflicts. If not, the next step is to obtain a copy of the New Hampshire DBA registration form.
The
next step is filling out the
form online (or you can print it
out, in which case you'll need
to write legibly), then be sure
to get an official copy for your
records. The following
information is required when
filing a ‘doing business as’ in
New Hampshire form:
Once the form is filled out,
double and triple-check that all
information is correct, then
have the registration form
notarized.
Go to town of Weare clerks
office to notarize the form.

Form TN-1 Trade Name Registration | $50 |
The
last final step is to send in
the completed form to the
Secretary of State’s office for
the approval of your New
Hampshire DBA application.
A filing fee of $50.00 should be enclosed together with the application form. The address where you can mail your form is found on the actual form as well. After that, await confirmation and you're all set.

Tips
If Las Vegas had tried to use “Whatever you do while you’re in Las Vegas, Stays in Las Vegas” instead of “What Happens Here, Stays Here,” it might never have caught on as one of the most popular slogans of all time. Keep your slogan under 9 or 10 words.
Consistent branding is key whether you’re a small business or household name. Make sure your business slogans complement your existing logo, company name and projected image. For example, General Electric’s slogan “Imagination at Work,” draws attention to their brand with a simple, yet powerful logo that celebrates human imagination and innovation. All of their products from lightbulbs to CT scanners, bare this testament to creativity and quality.
Figure out what your unique selling proposition is and use it. Is your delivery business done with a fleet of electric cars? Does your dental practice cater to those with high anxiety? Crossoak Family Dentistry features a big chicken on its website, along with the slogan “We cater to cowards.” Incorporate what makes you special into your slogan if possible.
Verizon had a good run with “Can You Hear Me Now?” but it was only a matter of time before technology made nearly all cell phone calls clear. You have to change with the times, but when you’re working on a slogan you want to think of its longevity. That’s why references to technology and phrases like “the only” are risky. Good slogans use wording that can stand the test of time, like Rolaids and their “How Do You Spell Relief?”
Your slogan shouldn’t be a mystery! You want a slogan that tells your audience what your business is without needing any additional information. For example, Cartoon Network’s “The Best Place for Cartoons” tells people exactly what they’ll get when they tune in.
You’ll also need to consider if your customers are local, national or international. While some locals get Philadelphia’s new slogan, “PHL: Here For The Making,” it may have left tourists scratching their heads. And if you do business internationally, keep in mind that translating your slogan to another language can significantly change the meaning. When KFC launched in China, their “Finger Lickin’ Good” slogan translated to the less appetizing “Eat Your Fingers Off.”
Being creative is a tough job, but there are ways to avoid going it alone.
